A Passion Prediction (Mark 9:31-32)

Jesus gave his disciples much warning of His upcoming arrest, death, and resurrection. The disciples did not understand, because such a thing was not in their plans at all! On one such occasion, Peter rebuked Jesus, receiving a response he would have never expected. “Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men” (Mark 8:33).

What they either brushed off as insignificant or confusing became the quintessential part of human history. This is the redemption of humanity from sin and death, and the hope for every person around the world today.

For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. (Mark 9:31-32)

Understand the implications. Ask those questions the disciples were afraid to ask.
