Partakers

“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus” (Hebrews 3:1). The Christian is the partaker of the heavenly calling. There is a call from heaven from the Father. The Son of Man was lifted up and draws all people to Himself. The Spirit below pleads with all Creation the risen Savior. Every born-again believer is a partaker of this heavenly calling.

“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end” (Hebrews 3:14). The one who continues in Christ is a partaker of Christ. We are born of Him, which far exceeds being born of Adam, which leads to eternal death. Not only does this imply eternal life with regard to time, but eternal life as to quality of nature.

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost” (Hebrews 6:4). Being partakers of the Holy Spirit, we have a taste of the world to come.

“But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons” (Hebrews 12:8). Being partakers of the above, we are partakers of chastisement, which drives us to be more like Christ.
