On the good ground (Luke 8:15)

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15)

The one who hears and is like the good ground shows something important. The one hearing does have some influence on the matter. They hear with “an honest and good heart.” They take time to hear and understand what was given to them. Moreover, they “keep it.” They trust in Jesus and learn to walk with Him. The result is that they “bring forth fruit with patience.” They bring forth fruit, yes, but with patience. The world gives a million and one reasons to give up. But these persevere in keeping God at His Word, and the engrafted Word with the Holy Spirit will always produce fruit. Be the good ground.
