Of Him Are Ye in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30)

What does it mean to be “in Christ”? How do we get there?
The concept of being in Christ is like being in Adam. Adam sinned, and therefore, everyone who came from his body (i.e., everyone) bears his sin nature and propensity to sin: “...and so death passed upon all men...” (Romans 5:12). You were “in Adam” because you were born there.
Likewise, to be “in Christ” is to be born there. Born again, that is. God placed us there in Christ: “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30).
Just like we owned everything of Adam when we were in him, we own everything of Christ by being in Him: from crucifixion to resurrection to ascension to enthronement. This is the power of the Christian life.
You don’t ask how you get to be in Christ. If you are a Christian, you are already there.
