Teach Us to Number Our Days (Psalm 90:12)
2022-06-17
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. (Psalms 90:12)
So much time is squandered on worthlessness. Here Moses, the man of God, appealed to the Lord to teach the people to not waste the time they had on this earth. We need to keep this in mind.
Previous verses in Psalm 90 speak of the infinite amount of time God has, and how our years are short. The Christian will have all eternity to spend with God, but there are some things that we will not be able to do on that side of eternity. This includes raising your children and sharing the Gospel. “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time” (Colossians 4:5). Again, we read, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Time is short, and considering the way things are in the world, you never know how close the end of it all is.
Time marches on furiously regardless of how you spend it. Spend time on the things that matter.
