Nevertheless Not My Will, but Thine, Be Done (Luke 22:42)

Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. (Luke 22:42)

This was our Lord in Gethsemane. What I focus on today is “nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” This must be our cry as well. It was not written for our Lord alone. Every day I must surrender to the will of God. Every day I must be where Jesus Christ is, being bound to Him. The servant can ask his Master for his wishes, but ultimately it is up to the Master’s discretion. Therefore, I say, whatever happens today is Your will. I may have intended plans, but the Master directs the steps. I embrace whatever happens today that the Lord has provided.
