The Man of Thy Right Hand (A Story of Thanksgiving)

2021-11-25

As Israel was distraught in the past, they were looking for a Savior to deliver them. Whenever they were brought low, they realized it was God’s way of telling them to rely on Him. The psalmist Asaph knew that the God of Israel would send a Savior that would deliver them:

Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. (Psalm 80:17-19)

This Savior was at God’s right hand, He was strong, and He could “quicken” them, or bring them back to life or revive them. Quickening preceded calling “upon thy name.” He also recognized that turning to the Lord and being saved ultimately would come from the Lord Himself. Asaph trusted that the Lord could accomplish this.

We can be thankful today that this Scripture has been fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanksgiving for this cannot be summed up in a day; it is a way of life.
