Let no man deceive you (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

Two things proceed the return of our Lord: A falling away and the rising of the Antichrist. The word for “falling away” is translated “forsake” elsewhere; it is an apostasy. There will be many that will forsake the faith and follow an impostor.

The phrase “Let no man deceive you by any means” suggests that many will come and confuse others concerning this order of events. Most of premillennial Christianity teaches the exact opposite of what this verse says: the day will come before these events, and therefore spared the tribulation of the fifth seal. Many will let their guard down and will be confused and led away into darkness. Do not let this happen to you.

We have something like Pascal’s wager here. If somehow I am wrong and misinterpret the above, and the Lord comes first, I will be pleasantly surprised. However, if I am right, imagine the hardship there will be for countless Christians who will go through terrible tribulation because they were not ready.
