For the Son of Man Is Come to Save That Which Was Lost (Matthew 18:11)

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. (Matthew 18:11)

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)

This is the purpose of Jesus’ coming. He continues His mission today through His people. He seeks and saves the lost. The Matthew passage is in the context of “little ones.” The Luke passage is in the context of Zacchaeus. Whether it be the wayward sinner or the child who knows nothing of the world, He came to save. If He didn’t come, who would be saved? Hell is real, Jesus is coming back, and multitudes still need the hope of eternal salvation. If Jesus came into the world for this reason, how much more should we be about His business? We are here for such a time as this.
