All Things to All Men (1 Corinthians 9:21-22)

How did Jesus Christ reach us? He became one of us. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us...” (John 1:14). He was born into a poor family because most were poor. He spoke their language. He explained truth with parables using the everyday things those people would understand. He loved and served and spent time with them.

How do we reach others? Live among them. Use their language. Tell stories using their vernacular to communicate truth. Serve and love and be with them. While I was in missions training, this was called the incarnational model. We can just say it is becoming “all things to all men.”

To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. (1 Corinthians 9:21-22)
