What Shall Be Done in the Dry? (Luke 23:28-31)

But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? (Luke 23:28-31)

Jesus told the women of Jerusalem to weep for themselves and their children because the rejection of the Christ would bring about the destruction of their city. By rejecting Christ, the people were sealing their destiny, and in about 40 years, their city would be destroyed.

Those days will be repeated at the end of the world. People will cry out for mountains and rocks to fall on them as they hide in the earth from the coming of the Lord. Because those times will be so bad, those without the responsibility of children will be called blessed, because the children would never have any hope. What would you do with small children as the world is be destroyed around you?

If the people would reject the Lord when He came the first time with much grace, full of miracles and healing and love for people, how much more when He comes in wrath?
