If the Salt Have Lost His Savour (Matthew 5:13)

2024-08-01

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (Matthew 5:13)

If we lose our savor, what good are we? We do not want to “be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” This sounds much like: “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned” (John 15:6).

If we do not live out the faith given to us, judgment waits for us in this life. But we have all the encouragement in the world to continue in Him and glorify His name because of all that Jesus has done for us.
