Hypostatic Union

2018-02-12

Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He has two natures, divine and human. This is called the hypostatic union.

Jesus always was God, but He became a man, born of the virgin Mary. When He died for our sins, and rose from the dead, He physically rose from the dead. He still had a physical body when He showed Himself to the disciples, and they handled Him and gave Him food to eat (Luke 24:39-43; 1 John 1:1-2). He still has a physical body today.

Jesus physically left this world and sat down at the right hand of God. Eyewitnesses saw Him ascend to heaven (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:51). He always was and always will be God. He became a human being and will not cease to be human.
