His Truth Endureth to All Generations (Psalm 100:5)

What to be thankful for

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Psalms 100:5)

Have you ever heard someone say something like, “That me be true for you, but it is not true for me?” It may even be said in the context of religion. But we know that two contradictory things cannot be true. Something is either true, or it is not. Christ was crucified and is risen from the dead. Islam contradicts that. They can’t both be right. The Spirit says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Hinduism contradicts that. They can’t both be right.

The LORD and His truth are facts rooted in history. Truth is not ethereal mumbo jumbo, but rather Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection are historical facts that every generation must reckon with. Everyone is a condemned sinner before God that needs a Savior. Jesus is that Savior. He bore the wrath of God in His own body on the cross. You either accept this or you go your own way. This Thanksgiving Day, be thankful that Jesus is our Savior. Rest in the fact that He has paid our debt forever. “Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness” (Psalm 97:12).
