High Time to Awake Out of Sleep (Romans 13:11-12)

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. (Romans 13:11-12)

If the apostle Paul thought this in his day, how much more do we say it in our day? Whenever the great Day comes, when the events of that Day begin, they will happen quickly.

So what else can we do, but to throw away what we once held dear and cling to the Lord Jesus Christ? “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof” (Romans 13:14). What the apostle spoke about at length in the former part of the epistle is now very practical advice. Know our death with Christ, consider yourself dead to sin yet alive to God through Jesus Christ, and yield yourself to the Lord for His service. If we be new creatures in Christ, by our God-given faith let us walk in His ways.
