He walked in the first ways

And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim (2 Chronicles 17:3)

Because the king sought the LORD first, everything else fell into line. The enemies around him feared and brought him presents. He possessed cities that belonged to the northern rival, Israel. He sent teachers throughout the land of Judah to teach the Word of God. He had castles and men of war.

We are not promised the worldly splendor as the Old Testament kings, but we know that the anointing of the Spirit affects how we are viewed in the world. In a world of chaos, there is more peace and order within than without.
