He Giveth Power to the Faint

In the days that you are tired and need strength, call upon the Lord, who is never tired and is always strong. “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding” (Isaiah 40:28). He rested after the world’s creation, not because He was tired, but because there was nothing left to do. It was complete.

This means that not only does He never get tired, but that He also gives strength to the weary. “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength” (Isaiah 40:29).

Even those who seem to be strong get tired at some point. “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall” (Isaiah 40:30). We envy those little kids that seem to keep going, but even they eventually crash.

However, whoever we may be, when we trust in the Lord, we can keep going, because it is His strength. We may ask the question, what is the point to continue? We have those days where we wonder what difference it makes to serve the Lord. The Lord Himself will renew our perspective and give us strength, plus some. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
