He Did Not Many Mighty Works (Matthew 13:58)

And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:58)

In his own country, Jesus did not have the honor like He had at other places. They knew His family, and they saw Him growing up. This is another discussion in and of itself. However, this one principle shines through: lack of faith often leads to lack of the working of God. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). And again, “Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:2-3).

We do not come to Him in faith. We either do not come to Him at all, or we come to Him for the animistic purpose of fulfilling our own desires. Faith is missing. We must come to Him and trust Him for His will to be done. Since He is the standard of goodness, we should wait on Him for His perfect will.
