The Ground of Christ

When a command is issued from the authority of the New Testament, we must assume that we approach it from the solid ground of Christ. It is a ground of faith, where He is the home in which we dwell, having accomplished everything for us regarding forgiveness, the death of the old and the birth of the new. Having said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” and “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world,” there is more than forgiveness of sins. There is the power of His endless life to accomplish all that He requires. Jesus is always here with us in a very literal sense. We abide with Him in heaven; He abides with us on earth. I stand on that holy ground by faith. And that holy ground is Him.

These are marvelous things: Who we are and where we are. We are new creatures, born again from the dead, where the old is left buried, never to be recovered. But where are we? We are in Christ. From this ground I know all things are possible.

And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. (Exodus 3:5)
And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15)

But in Christ we are always on holy ground. For wherever He is, we are, and wherever He is, it is holy ground.
