God Is Love

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:8)

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

One of the greatest proofs of the Trinity is in the simple phrase, “God is love.” If God the Father and Jesus Christ are the same person, wouldn’t God love only Himself in eternity past? True love by any biblical definition requires another person apart from oneself. The eternality of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is requisite for God to be love.
