Gifts Profit Others (1 Corinthians 12:7)

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (1 Corinthians 12:7)

In other words, the gifts to men by the Spirit are to be manifested to others for their profit. We are “in Christ,” not just as individuals, but collectively; we are His body. Anything that we have that we are good at is bestowed on us for the benefit of others, not for us to receive worship. It cannot be for our own benefit. These gifts were not something that we spawned within ourselves by choice. “For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” (1 Corinthians 4:7). God gave us spiritual abilities; we are to invest them in other people for the benefit and worship of the Lord.
