There is a Generation (Proverbs 30:11-14)

2022-05-31

This is our generation.

There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men. (Proverbs 30:11-14)

What generation is like ours, that has forsaken their parents and their values? “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee” (Exodus 20:12).

What generation is like ours, that thinks they are more virtuous than the generations before them? Yet, they are filthy and evil. “Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou” (Isaiah 65:5).

What generation is like ours, that celebrates pride and finds no place for humility? “Pride goeth before destruction...” (Proverbs 16:18).

What generation is like ours, who neglects those in need, leaving them for destruction? “And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?” (James 2:16).

Save yourselves from this untoward generation (Acts 2:40).
