A Spirit
The Bible tells us that “God is a Spirit” (John 4:24) and that “a spirit hath not flesh and bones” (Luke 24:39). Because God is eternal and is independent from the entire Creation, it makes sense that He does not consist of matter, light, or something else that is created. False gods are often referred to as “work of men’s hands” because they are fashioned with material already in the creation (Deuteronomy 4:28; 2 Kings 19:18; Psalm 115:4; 135:15; and Isaiah 37:19; Acts 17:25). God is not “made” of anything, but rather is eternal.
