The Form of the Fourth (Daniel 3:25)

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego went against the tide and refused to bow to the idol, they were thrown into the fire. You likely know the story well. What did they say before they went into the furnace?

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. (Daniel 3:17-18)

God can save from the trial as He did here. However, the three men knew that though God can deliver, He does not always do so. Regardless of the outcome, the men were willing to burn. We must also be willing to burn for the cause of Christ.

However, consider this:

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:25)

Whether or not we are saved from a trial, the promise of the fourth Man is true. He will either deliver us or go through it with us.
