That Which Is Born of the Flesh is Flesh (John 3:6)

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:6-7)
The old man will never amount to anything more than he is. This is why it was crucial for us to be born again. Everything that is in Adam cannot come before God let alone please Him. We must be born of the Spirit to be saved.
Moreover, anything not done by faith in Christ still has its source from the flesh. In ourselves, we cannot do anything. As we yield to God and present ourselves to Him for His service, being freed from sin, only then can He use us for His honor and glory.
Cornelius was a Gentile who sought the Lord, but without Christ, the centurion could never be what God wanted him to be. “A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always” (Acts 10:2). He had a religious resume that is impressive, but he lacked what really mattered. He was still born of the flesh.
God had the apostle Peter go to Caesarea from Joppa to bring Him the message of Christ. “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word” (Acts 10:44). Now the centurion and his friends were complete; they heard the Word and were all born again, this time of the Spirit.
