The Eyes of the LORD (Proverbs 15:3)

A lot of people either joke or are paranoid about Big Brother watching them, referring to the totalitarian government leader in George Orwell’s novel 1984. Maybe we need to worry more about the Bigger Father:

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)

The Lord can see everything; there is no hiding from Him. There is nobody so far off that they cannot be seen.

Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Proverbs 15:11)

There is no separation from God by proximity. Even hell is open before Him. These traits do not belong to the Father alone; the Son also is omniscient:

...and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts (Revelation 2:23)

What we do in secret, the Lord will know: “...thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6:4). “Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.” (Ezekiel 8:12)
