Eye Hath Not Seen, Nor Ear Heard (Isaiah 64:4; 1 Corinthians 2:9)

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. (Isaiah 64:4)
The prophet spoke of some hope amid an acknowledgment of deep sin that had angered the Lord that loved His people. They did not know what God would do, but they knew God had a restoration plan. The apostle then wrote that we who believe know something of these wonderful things because of the Spirit, for he says, “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10).
God has put away our sins in Christ. We know that as Gentiles in the flesh that we have received the atonement and hope of eternal life. How many in the ancient world waited for the good news of Jesus Christ! I must appreciate what Christ has done even more because I can see in retrospect what has happened. “Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently...” (1 Peter 1:10).
