East and West

The earth is an interesting place. If you were to leave home and keep traveling north, you would eventually cross the north pole. You pass the frigid waters there and realize that Santa does not exist. But you realize something else. You start traveling south. In your tirelessness and your immunity to hypothermia, you decide to keep going, traversing the other hemisphere southward. You finally reach Antarctica and cross an endless landscape of white. Crossing the south pole, what happens? You start traveling north again. What did you learn? If you keep traveling north, you will start traveling south eventually, and vice versa.

Now instead you decide to travel east. You cross the Atlantic, then the prime meridian, and eventually the Pacific and the international date line. Your perseverance finally leads you home again. But something different happens this time. You never go west. There is no east pole or west pole. They are diametrically opposed and go forever.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)

That is how far Jesus took our sins away from us when He died for us.
