Thither will the eagles be gathered together (Luke 17:37)

The men in the bed, the women at the grinding, and the men in the field, who are divided and one in each group being taken, are likened to eagles gathering at a carcass.

Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. (Luke 17:36-37)

This happens at the coming of the Lord.

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. (Matthew 24:27-28)

The only other gathering in this context is mentioned a few verses later, with a different but related word:

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:31)

The disciples asked where these would be gathered. Consider this:

Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she. (Job 39:27-30)

The eagles with their young are gathered at the carcass for the blood. Like the eagles, we are gathered to the Savior who shed His blood for us. Those who partake of His blood will be with Him. So wherever He is, we will be also. We, like the eagles, look for where He is. We position ourselves to get the greatest vantage point to identify where He will be.

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
