Deep Water (Proverbs 20:5)

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. (Proverbs 20:5)

To know your own self is difficult. You have your own biases in favor of your own self. You have motives that you do not know you even have. You have a heart inclined to evil. By the power of the Lord, you can find out the hidden idols and sins of the heart. “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly” (Proverbs 20:27). He knows you better than you do. Ask Him for His light to expose those ways so contrary to Him.
