So then death worketh in us, but life in you (2 Corinthians 4:12)

I was so eager to see my death with Christ so I could turn a corner in my battle against sin. I wanted to just get past the death part to see the life of Christ in me. But herein is the reality: the life of Christ that is manifest in us is spent for the sake of others. His life is not to establish my own righteousness or comfort. His life is spent for others. The life that wells up within causes us to burst asunder, and from us flows the wells of living water. We are broken all the more so the fountain will be available for others to drink.

I am tired, but there is no rest here. But in Jesus of Nazareth there is rest. How can there be rest in brokenness? But it must be there.
