Crucified

“I am crucified with Christ...” (Galatians 2:20)

Jesus our substitute died for our sins. This is the “101” of Christianity. Yet another marvelous fact is that we died with Him.

The apostle said, “I am crucified with Christ...” However, this was not written for Paul alone. Any born-again believer can confidently say this. I was a death-filled appendage on the Adamic family tree like every other human being. With all the effort in the world, I could not change what I was. My family tree was all wrong. I needed to die to that plant, which was plucked up and ready for the fire.

Being a part of all that was in that world, I produced plenty of fruit, but it was poisonous. There was nothing there of value.

But Another came along and saved me from that. I was placed on that cross with Christ. It ended everything that was in Adam. I had sinned, and the Law condemned me, and then I sinned again. Now I am both dead to sin and dead to the Law. I am joined to Another. He is the Lord Jesus Christ.

So what advantage is this? “For he that is dead is freed from sin” (Romans 6:7). “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him” (Romans 6:9).
