Whosoever Shall Call on the Name of the LORD Shall Be Delivered (Joel 2:32)

...that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered (Joel 2:32)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
The New Testament here is quoting the Old. Note the all-capital LORD in the first of this pair; it is calling on the name of God by His covenantal name, Jehovah. Who is Romans 10:13 talking about? “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9). We call upon the name of the Son, Jesus Christ, who is fully God. See Paul’s greeting to the saints at Corinth: “Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2).
Salvation hinges on trusting in and calling on the name of Jesus Christ. He bore the wrath our sin deserves. He alone secured us from sin, Satan, and hell. Without the shedding of the blood of Jesus there is no forgiveness of sin.
