But I hate him
2024-10-03
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. (1 Kings 22:8)
Ahab hated Micaiah because Micaiah is the prophet that tells the truth. The king surrounded himself with people that would affirm what he already wanted to hear. Ahab hates truth and loves lies.
Strangely, Micaiah was a friend and ally that Ahab needed. We need to have those voices that will talk us out of the bad decisions that we will make.
Because the son of Omri hated truth, it cost him his life. It is a shame that Jehoshaphat was not more forceful concerning the Word of the LORD.
