Blot Out the Remembrance of Amalek (Deuteronomy 25:19)
2024-03-10
Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it. (Deuteronomy 25:17-19)
Since the LORD has compassion on the weak and vulnerable, as He has said repeatedly about widows, orphans, and foreigners, it is a great affront to Him when people take advantage of them. These Amalekites attacked Israel from behind when at their weakest and intentionally went after the weak members of the group.
Keep this in mind when you see armies or peoples who do this, and how they cannot have any favor from God. Moreover, we must have compassion on the weak, for these are they that the LORD looks on.
