The Precious Blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18-19)

In my life, I have had crushing guilt and regret. There are events in my life that I wish did not happen, huge events spanning years. You may have had similar experiences: Guilt or memories of regret that cripple you and paralyze you from action. Surely, there must be freedom somewhere.

These feelings and experiences are the results of sins, and they have driven an infinite wedge between us and our God, our Creator. Jesus Christ is that solution to restore us, and then some. The solution is in Christ’s blood.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (1 Peter 1:18-19)

The blood of Jesus Christ is the solution to our guilt before God and our guilty conscience. God calls this blood “precious.” You say, “I don’t think that His blood is enough.” But God says the blood is sufficient. You cannot argue with Him on this. The blood of a lamb was enough to save the Israelites during Passover; how much more can Christ’s blood save us from our sin, guilt, and shame?

Do not keep making yourself pay for your sins through self-deprecation and rehearsing the past ad nauseum in your mind. Do you ever stop paying for sins that way? Is it ever enough?

On the contrary, God is satisfied with the blood of Christ for the remission of sins. He has said that it is enough. Now it is your turn to say the blood is sufficient. Remember that it is sufficient every minute of the day. Be free.
