Blocked Goals

Have you ever gotten angry in traffic? We all have, and I have probably more than most. It could be we just want to get where we are going; we just want to go home... And these people are stopping me.

There possibly could be more here, though. In some ways traffic typifies life. How many times have you wanted to accomplish something, and something or someone stubbornly stands in your way? You have no control over this force. It makes you angry. It is a blocked goal.

Ultimately, whatever stands in between you and your goal is God. It is “he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth” (Revelation 3:7). “But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God” (Acts 5:39). The buck really stops with God, not Harry Truman. Our circumstances are determined by the Lord. We must keep an open mind and schedule and be ready to accept whatever the Lord has. We must be at peace with whatever the Lord has for us. Some of that is extremely hard to accept. As a mentor once put it, He is in control over the drama of your life.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

A door closes, and another opens. Be content with those doors He has opened, and the more quickly you will experience peace.
