Things Blasphemously Spake They Against Him (Luke 22:65)

And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. (Luke 22:65)
The men that held our Lord on the night of His arrest beat Him and mocked Him. They also spoke blasphemously against Him. What does this mean, but that our Lord is the Son of God? You do not blaspheme something that is not associated with deity. “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9).
Think about this: “And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?” (Luke 22:64). He could have answered the question. But He voluntarily allowed His humiliation, torture, and death to fulfill His Father’s will and for our sakes. He could have stopped it all right there. But it was His love for us all that He went through with it.
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? (Matthew 26:53-54)
