Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Stop and consider these two commandments of the Lord. Baptism happens only once in a person’s saved life. The Lord’s Supper happens often.
Baptism pictures the baptism of the Spirit that the Lord baptizes us with, where we were regenerated at a definite point in the past and united with Christ. It is a picture of us being baptized into Christ’s death. We cannot be born again more than once; therefore, we should only be baptized once after we are saved. To be baptized a second time as a saved person should not be done; but if we were baptized before we were saved (like a baby’s Christening), then we most certainly should be rebaptized.
The Lord’s Supper happens often throughout our saved lives. Since we do this to remember the Lord, this is a picture of the Lord’s death for us, in that we recall that it is His death that brought us life. This constant remembrance is our sanctification and our power for living, and this supper helps us remember that.
