So He Made It Again Another Vessel (Jeremiah 18:4)

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. (Jeremiah 18:4)

Ancient Israel was marred beyond use, and the Lord had said, “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?” So it must be with all that belong to the Lord. Can we remain as we are and be usable to the Lord of Glory? No, rather, we must be remade. We must be crushed and reshaped. Surely, this starts with the new birth. But is this it? No, what was refashioned in heaven must also be refashioned on earth. Whatever we grip here on earth must be released. We must surrender to the Savior and be willing to have Him reform us from the marred vessels we are.
