Altogether Such as I Am (Acts 26:29)

And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds. (Acts 26:29)

Imagine the compassion of the apostle who wanted salvation for the people who unjustly kept him in prison. Festus had just yelled at him and called him nuts, after trying to turn him over to those who wanted him dead. The king and his wife had entered with an entourage, looking to put on a show before this prisoner. Yet a more cautious Agrippa was almost convinced of the Gospel message.

Whatever motives each one had that day, Paul wished salvation for all of them. He turned his defense into an opportunity so that somebody might be saved that day. Maybe somebody was. Who knows? Friend or enemy, the Lord wants them all saved. We should want the same thing.
