No Adventure Like the Word
2021-10-30
There is no adventure like the Bible. We talk a lot about the life-giving Words of the Bible, and how it is God’s Word revealing the Lord Jesus to us. These themes rightfully belong at the forefront in the discussion of bibliology.
But what about great literature? The adventures in the narratives surpass anything from Hollywood. The poetry elevates us more than the Shakespearean sonnet. If you get in the throes of battle with Joshua or David, you want to keep reading. You will see the splendor of Solomon, and how his ancient kingdom was known throughout the world. When you get to Acts, you see a small band of people transform the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. All of it points to Jesus. A thousand stories and more have been inspired by God’s Word.
This beautiful story shows us how God was the peerless Playwright who architected all of history.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...” (Hebrews 12:2)
