A Place Where the King’s Prisoners Were Bound (Genesis 39:20)

And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. (Genesis 39:20)

Potiphar was rightly angry when his wife alleged Joseph’s advances toward her. However, some information may be missing.

You would think that Joseph would have been executed. The allegations against Joseph were serious, and Potiphar was a government official. Why was he not convicted to the gallows?

Also, he was placed in a prison where the king’s prisoners were. He was not a servant of the king; why was he there?

I think it may be that Joseph’s character was so impeccable that perhaps the wife’s tale was not entirely believed. Even in the royal prison, Joseph’s character allowed for promotion.

We should walk with the Lord in such a way that when we are falsely accused like Joseph, nobody believes it.
